L’Eixample is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Barcelona.  As the old quarter of the Catalan bourgeoisie, its apartment buildings are noted for their high-ceilinged rooms, spectacular Modernista entrance ways and architectural details reflecting the wealth of the bourgeois class. The area has the highest concentration of iconic Modernista-style buildings including the Casa Milà and Casa Batlló in shopping-friendly Passeig de Gràcia, along with the Arc de Triomf and the world-famous La Sagrada Familia.

When it comes to restaurants, the visitor to the Eixample will be spoilt for choice. From small Catalan bars like La Bodegueta to Michelin-starred establishments such as Els Cinc Sentits, the area is also home to cuisine from around the world with the likes of Mayura Lounge and Los Jardines de Thailandia.

Adding to the charm of the area, the Eixample is designed as an almost perfect grid pattern, with wide streets and blocks mostly identical in shape and size.
